Nick is an Australian born and raised trumpet player, composer and band leader who has built a diverse and exciting career touring and performing nationally and internationally. After graduating from a Bachelor degree in Jazz Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2005, Nick went on to immerse himself in an eclectic array of musical styles.

Nick is a founding member of Australian quartet The Vampires, a group that has been touring extensively internationally since 2006 and have released six albums including the highly acclaimed 2017 release The Vampires meet Lionel Loueke. Nick is also a founding member of the Sydney based reggae outfit The Strides and leads his own groups Garfish and The Nick Garbett Quintet.

In 2018 Nick was the recipient of Freedman Jazz Fellowship, Australia’s most prestigious award in Jazz.
